Priorat DOCA – Coma Vella 2018 – Mas d’en Gil

Mas d’en Gil’s Coma Vella 2018 is a red blend from the rugged hills of Bellmunt del Priorat, crafted by the Rovira-Carbonell family.

The wine is a typical Priorat expression, built around Garnacha, Carignan, and Syrah from organically farmed vineyards located in the Vall de la Coma.

The 2018 vintage underwent fermentation with indigenous yeasts and matured for 12 months in French oak barrels, followed by further bottle aging.

In the glass, it reveals a deep ruby color with garnet edges.

The nose is intense and complex, displaying ripe black fruits, balsamic undertones, sweet spices like cinnamon and clove, and mineral hints of graphite and wet slate.

On the palate, it’s full-bodied with firm yet ripe tannins, balanced acidity, and a savory, layered progression. Flavors echo the nose with plum, black cherry, Mediterranean herbs, and a long finish that leaves a trace of smoky minerality and dark chocolate.

This is a structured yet elegant Priorat, expressing both power and finesse typical of the appellation.
