The Gewürztraminer Sanct Valentin 2023 from Cantina St. Michael-Eppan, classified as Alto Adige DOC, is a white wine that embodies the elegance and complexity typical of this aromatic variety. The grapes are grown in vineyards located in Appiano and Caldaro, at altitudes between 300 and 500 meters above sea level, on calcareous-clay soils with gravelly components.
The wine is clear and bright golden yellow with greenish reflections, showing a rich texture in the glass.
On the nose, it is pronounced in intensity, offering intense and typical aromas of lychee, dog rose, white flower petals, ripe peach, honey, and a hint of spice such as ginger and clove. Its varietal aromatic profile is clearly expressed.
On the palate, it is powerful yet elegant, with a touch of residual sugar that is barely perceptible—the impression remains dry. Acidity is moderate, and the texture is slightly oily.
The flavors mirror the nose, with lychee and floral notes standing out, followed by a mineral undertone and sweet spices on the finish. It has good persistence.
This is a wine of excellent quality, thanks to its complexity, balance, aromatic intensity, and length.
While it is already impressive in its youth, it has the potential to develop greater complexity over the next 5 to 10 years or more.
