Chianti DOCG Riserva – Nipozzano 2016 – Frescobaldi

An easily accessible label, even in Italian supermarkets, this bottle was kept in the cellar for the right amount of time but could still benefit from further aging. The wine shows a luminous ruby color with no hints of garnet, even after 9 years.

On the nose, vibrant red fruit aromas dominate, with cherry, raspberry, and strawberry standing out, complemented by notes of ripe fruit, a touch of violet, hints of undergrowth, tobacco, mushroom, coffee, light smokiness, and chocolate.

The palate is soft and well-rounded, with a good body, integrated and polished tannins, and excellent balance. The freshness remains lively throughout the sip, accompanied by a slight salinity that enhances the wine’s good persistence on the finish.

It likely has the potential to evolve further in the coming years.
