A pure Merlot from Val d’Arno di Sopra DOC, this iconic Petrolo label is crafted with meticulous attention. Hand-selected berries undergo fermentation with indigenous yeasts, followed by 18-20 months of aging in French oak barriques, one-third new.
In the glass, it shows a deep, intense ruby red. The nose immediately conveys its significance, offering elegance and complexity despite its youth. Ripe dark fruit notes, mainly blueberries and blackberries, intertwine with violet, Mediterranean scrub, coffee dust, and spices.
The palate is full-bodied, deep, and enveloping, striking a balance between power and finesse. The tannins, while pronounced, are already structured and velvety, supported by high aromatic intensity and a vibrant acidity. The finish is long and fruit-driven, leaving a lasting impression.
A wine of great stature, expressing the essence of its terroir, with outstanding aging potential yet already immensely enjoyable today.
